The Discovery Center at Ridgefield is hosts Guided Bird Walk on February 13

For the Love of Birds!

The Discovery Center at Ridgefield is hosting a Guided Bird Walk program for all ages on Saturday, February 13th at 8:00 A.M. in the Shadow Lake Open Space, Shadow Lake Road, Ridgefield (park at the ball-field entrance).  The Discovery Center birding programs take place each month at various locations and habitats throughout Ridgefield.

A brisk walk on a chilly winter morning is the perfect way to begin your Valentine’s Day as it provides the perfect excuse to cozy up indoors afterward with your valentine!

Join Discovery Center birder, Noah Sferra, on a Valentine’s Day morning stroll in search of birds through the meadows and woodland habitats of this beautiful property.  Mr. Sferra will share a wealth of information on our native birds and their ecology and conservation.  The program will continue with a field walk in this varied habitat area of Ridgefield.  The birding program participants have been seeing at least twelve different songbirds on recent outings.  Although ‘lovebirds’ will most likely not be spotted, Mr. Sferra will share the secret hiding spots our local birds ‘love’ during the winter months.

Participants should dress for the outdoors.  Warm clothes and winter boots are advised. Binoculars will be available for participants to borrow.

All ages are welcome.  This program is free of charge. Please call 203.438.1063 or visit the DC website www.ridgefielddiscovery.org to make reservations.
