Wine Talk | Meadow Walk set for this Saturday

The Redding Land Trust’s open space party, Wine Talk | Meadow Walk, is set for this Saturday, August 27th from 4pm to sunset, or 7:30pm, on the bucolic, four-acre Jones Meadow located on Poverty Hollow Road.

Guests will enjoy a signature cocktail upon arrival, passed hors d’oeuvres, hot grilled sliders, and wine; all while taking in the beauty of the meadow along interconnecting pathways. The catered event also includes a talk by Ancona’s sommelier about the specially chosen wines. Information about the location’s many interesting former neighbors, and the flora and fauna, will be offered as the party unfolds.

Event sign-up can be easily found at www.Eventbrite.com or through a link at www.reddingctlandtrust.org. The cost is $90, half of which is tax deductible. Parking directions and other information are provided following registration. The event will be held in light rain or sunshine. However, the organizers note the current forecast is excellent, so a sunset finish is anticipated. The event will be hosted on the 1990 land donation from the Jones Family.

Mary Ann Carman, a trustee, said, “This is the first time we have done something of this nature, ‘in nature.’ Our wish is to continue to host outdoor events at different locations, on Redding’s beautiful open space, and for it to become a tradition; an opportunity for members of the community to explore conservation land in new and creative ways.”

Laurie Heiss, a Trustee who has a background in field biology said, “It takes a long time to establish the complex ecosystems present in old meadows, and that plant diversity is often surprising to behold, and visually stunning. Summertime is the perfect season to explore this biodiversity, and of course for entertaining guests outdoors. We hope our Wine Talk | Meadow Walk guests will agree.”

The Redding Land Trust is grateful to their local event sponsors, making the Redding Land Trust’s inaugural fundraiser possible.
