Let personal stylist and jewelry designer Karen Amaru ‘unlock your style’ for fall and beyond at her talk, “Fashion Forward: On Trend Styles for Women of All Ages.” Amaru, a fashion consultant, will be the featured Healthy Living speaker at the Westport Weston Family Y (Schine Meeting Room), on Friday, October 21 from 11:45 - 12:30, 14 Allen Raymond Lane, Westport. The event will incorporate a presentation, small favors and a door prize. The talk is free and open to the public; walk-ins are welcome.
Karen Amaru has always loved style. Growing up in a family that worked in New York’s jewelry industry, she was introduced to accessorizing at an early age. Couple that with a flair for fashion, and the result has been Amaru’s current calling as a go-to stylist. A bona fide people person, Amaru spent years in real estate and has parlayed her penchant for working with locals into a second career as a hands-on stylist. She does everything from closet makeovers, to color coaching, to suggesting styles that complement a client’s preference and body type.
“I encourage women to reframe their views on style by embracing new colors, accessories or simply by deleting and donating outdated pieces to stay on trend. My goal is for clients to sport current looks that reflect their personality and boost confidence. That’s what I call a win-win,” said Amaru.
Amaru will forecast today’s runway favorites, while offering tips on dressing for your shape, completing outfits with certain colors and accessories, and updating your wardrobe. The presentation will cover versatile looks: from timeless essentials, to casual everyday ensembles, to office wear, to date night duds and festive holiday attire. Attendees will learn how to break out of their comfort zone and come away with a newfound sense of style.
