Mark Twain Library is planning 22nd Annual Frog Frolic on Saturday, April 29th from 10 am – 4 pm at the Redding Community Center (37 Lonetown Rd, Redding, CT)
Drawing on Mark Twain’s beloved short story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County for inspiration, the Frog Frolic Committee’s take on a children’s country fair is as Mr. Clemens intended: a day of leisure dedicated to food, family, friends and, of course, fun and games.
Boasting a mix of creative arts and crafts activities, old-fashioned games, a Kiss-A-Frog booth, a well-priced children’s book sale, and a Tom Sawyer-esque fence painting activity, kids of all ages will delight in these attractions and more.
Throughout the day, caregivers with toddlers will find respite in Aunt Polly’s Bubble Garden while stellar musical and martial art talent from within the Redding community will take center stage.
The Fairytale Food Court will be the perfect place to enjoy a well-priced appetizing lunch with family and friends though traditional fair snacks such as popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones will abound.
After an enlightening adventure through Touch-A-Truck Land spend time out-bidding a neighbor at the extraordinary Silent Auction or pose for a photo with one of many Storybook Characters greeting guests throughout the day.
Fair-goers with energy to spare will enjoy bouncing on one of three giant inflatables. The only thing missing at the fair is a frog jumping contest, however, we are grateful to New Pond Farm for bringing along live amphibians to round out our day.
Parking and admission are free. Tickets are available for purchase to play games, make crafts and ride the giant inflatables. All proceeds from the fair go to support the Mark Twain Library.
