Ridgefield Academy to Host Annual Touch-A-Truck and School Maker Faire Events on May 20

Touch-A-Truck

Curiosity will give way to hands-on experience on Saturday, May 20, from 9-11am when Ridgefield Academy welcomes children of all ages to its fifth annual Touch-A-Truck event. A variety of construction and emergency vehicles will be on location at RA, and children are encouraged to touch, climb, and learn! Touch-A-Truck will feature approximately eight different types of vehicles and all will be open for exploration. This event is a popular one, where children not only learn how these vehicles are used everyday but also enjoy getting behind the wheel, turning on sirens and blowing horns. Don’t forget to enjoy a hayride while on campus, too! Please RSVP at www.ridgefieldacademy.org/touchatruck to let us know you will be joining us!

Interested families are welcome to learn more about Ridgefield Academy during their visit.  Alison O’Callaghan, Head of Preschool/Lower School, and Clinton Howarth, Head of Middle/Upper Schools, will be available to answer questions and give tours RA’s impressive facilities.

RA Maker Faire: Be A Maker or Come See the Projects!

Visiting families will also enjoy The Greatest Show and Tell on Earth! The 2nd annual school Maker Faire will take place on RA’s campus the same day from 10am-3pm. The RA Maker Faire is a celebration of invention, creativity and resourcefulness and will showcase do-it-yourself projects in any area such as robotics, coding, textiles, music, art, rockets, puppets, cooking, baking and much more. Basil Kolani, Director of the Center for Teaching and Innovative Learning is especially looking forward to this event as he feels it is a “natural fit” with the self-directed learning that is happening at RA. Participation as an inventor is open to everyone! This year RA is hoping for increased involvement - faculty, parents, friends, and community members in addition to our great student work. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Kolani at bkolani@ridgefieldacademy.org.

Don’t miss these two great family events! Both are free and open to the public.
