Free July Concerts by WCSU Music Camp Musicians

Are you a young, talented musician on the rise? Get even better this summer as Western Connecticut State University in Danbury will host musicians in grades 5-12 for two weeks this month at summer music camps focusing on improving the skills of string and band musicians.

Students will audition for ensemble placement at the beginning of the programs and will work with peers of similar musical abilities under the tutelage of camp faculty members.

The programs will culminate in three concerts to showcase what the students have achieved during the programs.

Camp 1:  Summer Strings program

July 13 - 19 is the first of the weeklong camps, the Summer Strings program for string instrument players.

Camp 2:  Summer Band

July 20-26 is their second program, Summer Band, and is tailored to band instrumentalists.

Both camps include ensemble practice sessions during the day, camp choir, outdoor sports, movies and performances by faculty members.

Students have the option of commuting to campus each day or residing in one of the university residence halls on the WCSU campus.
