Poetry Month may be over, but that doesn’t mean we’re done celebrating literary forms. May is when we celebrate short stories, which have been enjoying a renaissance in recent years. Their growing popularity has been variously credited to our shorter attention spans, the rise of e-reading (which encourages authors to publish one story at a time), and/or the discrete challenge writing and reading them presents.
Whatever it may be, Books, Ink is happy to celebrate their existence and the pleasure of reading them. Pictured is one of my favorite short story collections: Jhumpa Lahiri's Pulitzer Prize-winning "Interpreter of Maladies." Now we want to hear from you, dear readers: What are your favorite short stories and/or story collections? How about your favorite short story writers? Tell us in the comments!
