Carriage Barn Arts Programs

Check out upcoming events from the 2016 Carriage Barn Arts schedule.

Poetry Reading
Wednesday, February 10 at 7pm - "Fairfield County Poets Read,"
Free and open to the public, 11 local published and emerging poets will present a selection of works during this 90 minute program. Light refreshments will be served, pre-registration is not required, but you can RSVP here to help us with our headcount. Please note: while this event is not an open mic, we hope you'll come, bring a friend, and see what you think of poetry in the barn. The New Canaan Society for the Arts is considering hosting future open mic poetry events and looking to assess interest from our friends, our community, and you!

Free Photo Forum
Saturday, February 20 at 1pm - "Photo Forum,"
Free and open to anyone interested in photography, this casual, bring-your-own brown-bag lunch event invites photographers and photo enthusiasts to learn from each other about creating bodies of work, current issues in professional practice, workflow and creative process, mounting exhibitions, using social media, digital vs. traditional processes, and more. A diverse panel of photographers will guide the discussion and break-out groups, pre-registration is not required, but you can RSVP here to help us with our headcount.

Thursday, March 17th from 5:30-7pm - "Award Recipient Exhibition,"
Works by the award recipients from our 36th Annual Photo Show will continue on view with our friends at Bankwell, in the offices located on 208 Elm Street in New Canaan. An opening reception will be held free and open to the public on St. Patricks Day, Thursday, March 17th from 5:30-7pm. Congratulations to all who have works on view in our Photo Show, which closes Sunday, February 21st. See all works in the show here, and visit this link for Juror Jan Nagle's remarks and the award recipients images.

Programming sponsorship and support for this year's photo show were provided by Bankwell, Walter Stewart's Market, Rockwell Art and Framing, The Chamber of Commerce, New Canaan, Handwright Gallery & Framing, and Milford Photo.
