Redding Country Club Junior Golf Season in Review

The Redding Country Club's Junior Interclub and PGA Golf Teams had sensational seasons. Both the 9 and 18-hole Interclub teams, participated in matches against clubs from all over Northern Fairfield County. The 18-hole Interclub is competitive match play where the top 4 players compete while 2 additional players gain playing experience. 18-hole interclub teams are required to field 6 players, but RCC was ready for every event with 10 practiced golfers. The 9-hole interclub players gained experience playing team matches with players from other clubs in the area.

This was the first year the Redding Country Club participated in the Junior PGA league. This 8 to 13 year old league allowed Redding to showcase some of the Club's best junior golfers.

Redding golfers Arnold Wright, Kyle St. Pierre, and Charlie Stuhr were nominated for the Northern Fairfield County Junior Golf All-Star team. Top teams continue to compete at the regional, then national level. These participants played and cheered for their teammates in matches around the state.

It's no surprise the Redding Country Club Junior golfers have had such a successful season. Jim Palsa, Co-Director of the Borck Tournament states "Having known Sam [Olson] for a couple of years, he is hands down one of the best supporters of Junior golf. We have enjoyed having a number of both boys and girls who have learned the game through his instruction."

The Redding Country Club has "one of the highest boy-to-girl ratios," says the Junior PGA Head Coach, Jim St-Pierre and the team is "proud to have so many girls participating."

The season ended with the 18-hole Club Championships on August 20th. .Member Chris Bohn won with Reilly Haughan as runner up. Richard Bohn won the 9-hole Championship with Peirce Beach and Liam Ryan in second.
