Fairfield Cheese Company Spreads the Love with Greenwich Cheese Company Opening Soon

Laura Downey and Chris Palumbo, co-owners of Fairfield Cheese Company, announce the formation of Greenwich Cheese Company at 154 East Putnam Avenue in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich, CT.

Building on their success in the Fairfield area, the cheese duo announced that Greenwich Cheese Company will offer the area’s best selection of cut-to-order artisanal and farmstead cheese from around the world and right here in the United States.  They will offer an array of small batch handmade charcuterie and specialty food accompaniments.

Owner Palumbo, an American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional (ACS CCP) and local caterer, promises a commitment to product quality and seasonality. “Like Fairfield, Greenwich is a sophisticated market and its residents demand quality and variety,” he explains, “We are determined to bring to the forefront many outstanding, but perhaps lesser known, hand-crafted cheese and food products.” Greenwich Cheese Company will also offer cheese classes and private tastings. “Education is one of our biggest missions,” says Palumbo, “we have space in the shop and look forward to bringing our curriculum to the Greenwich area.”

Co-owner Downey concurs, “We’ve had a lot of success in Fairfield because the shop and our cheesemongers are approachable and we strive for impeccable customer service.” Downey, a veteran of the retail industry with over 20 years of retail experience and also a Certified Cheese Professional continued, “We offer high quality and well curated products and great service in Fairfield and we are excited to bring our expertise and energy to Greenwich.  Our reputation has grown locally as well as nationally, but our focus is local. We want to be a neighborhood shop and be involved in the community.”

Greenwich Cheese Company is located at 154 East Putnam Avenue Cos Cob, CT and will open November 2014

Located at 2090 Post Road, Fairfield Cheese Company has become the Fairfield area’s premier source for artisanal and farmstead cheese, charcuterie and fine foods. The shop was named “Best Cheese Selection,” by Connecticut Magazine for 2011 & 2012 and was designated a top five place to buy cheese in the US in Food and Wine Magazine Online.  http://www.foodandwine.com/articles/top-5-cheese-shops-in-the-us
