The Mark Twain Library is a public Association library, founded by Mark Twain himself as a gift to the Redding community. He insisted on a public/private partnership, and today that relationship remains. While the town of Redding provides an annual grant to cover a portion of the Library's operating costs, the remainder is raised through our fundraisers, and through the generosity of our Library Friends.

Contributions to the Annual Appeal are accepted at any time during the year to help fund our collections, programs, and services, as well as the general operation of the Library. Every gift, regardless of size, is welcomed and needed! Those who make a gift become both a "Friend of the Library," and a member of the Mark Twain Library Association for the twelve months following the date of their donation. As a member of the Association, a donor will receive an invitation to the Library's annual meeting in June, and an invitation to purchase tickets to the Library's Art Show Preview Party in December.
Tribute Gifts
Honor someone with a donation to the Library by making a gift to recognize a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. You can donate to the Mark Twain Library in someone's name and we will send a letter explaining your thoughtful and creative gesture. It's a win – win – win – for the gift giver, the recipient, and of course, for your library. And just think – you don't have to wrap it! Books or other materials (including audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs) will be affixed with a bookplate. This is a wonderful option for end-of-year teacher gifts and presents for those who "have everything"!
Gifts in Memory of a loved one are also fitting tributes. Books or other materials may be designated, and the Library will provide acknowledgement to the honoree or family of the person memorialized.
Library Wall of Donors Plaque
Donors who make a gift of $1000 or more will truly become a part of the Mark Twain Library -- as the recipient of a named, engraved plaque on the Mark Twain Library's wall of donors. Upon receipt of the donation, instructions will be sent asking how you would like us to engrave the plaque.
Gifts of Time
The Library holds three annual fund-raising events: the Frog Frolic in early May; the Book Fair in late summer; and the Art Show Party and Exhibition in early December. Become a member of the Stormfield Society – Bequests to the library
The Stormfield Society has been founded to recognize those who, like Mark Twain, have made plans for a legacy gift to The Mark Twain Library.
The Stormfield Society welcomes those who would like to contribute to the Mark Twain Library through their estate plans. This society welcomes those who would like to continue this legacy and contribute to the Mark Twain Library through their estate plans.
