Liquid Lunch in Shelton Launches Crowd Funding Campaign to Reopen Downtown Restaurant

Liquid Lunch, a locally owned restaurant in Southern CT, specializing in unique soups and sandwiches for over 10 years, is launching a crowd sourced funding campaign to reopen their downtown Shelton location at 434 Howe Ave, under the name GROW. Liquid Lunch currently has two locations open – one on Research Drive in Shelton (located inside the Energizer building and is open to the public), and the other on South Broad St in Milford.

The crowd funding campaign will launch on GoFundMe, a website designed to raise money from individuals for specific campaigns, on May 1, 2015, and run for 30 days or until the $25,000 goal is met. Money raised will go to purchasing equipment, furniture, décor, starting inventory, and other items needed before the doors can open. Fred and Michele Bialek want as much of the items and ingredients to come from local sources as possible, including the furniture, art work, food, and drinks. Local artists from Hawker Metalworks and The Glass Source are just a couple of local community members that have already been working with the team.

In January of 2014, the site of the original Liquid Lunch restaurant was lost in a catastrophic fire that left the building uninhabitable. Interior renovations have been ongoing and the site has been approved to reopen by Planning and Zoning.

From the ashes of what was left in the aftermath of the fire, a new restaurant will be born with help from the community. As Owner Michele says, “We chose the name GROW because it embodies so many of the concepts we hope to represent: Community, Creativity, Agriculture, Family, and Love. GROW with us and help us realize the beautiful vision we have for all of our extended Liquid Lunch family.”
