Christ Church, the Episcopal church at the corner of Black Rock Turnpike and Cross Highway, is pleased to announce its new worship schedule. In addition to the traditional services offered every Sunday at 8 and 10 a.m., and a 7 pm Compline on the second Sunday of each month, Christ Church is introducing a new monthly Saturday 5 pm Celtic Communion service. Held on the third (3rd) Saturday of each month, this compact late afternoon service is especially geared toward busy families or others who have active Sunday morning schedules. Popular in many Anglican Circles, particularly in Scotland, Ireland, and New Zealand, this service echoes Celtic traditions, including “lilting and poetic” language, and is distinguished by lively participation of the Congregation. Shorter and a bit less formal than regular services, but with traditional elements such as the Gospel reading, Celtic Communion promises to be “a little bit playful, a lot devout”, and both adult and child-friendly.
All are welcome to join in our adult discussion groups at 9 am and our weekly Sunday Coffee Hour that begins around 11:15. Many people find this time a wonderful opportunity to make and deepen friendships within the community. Church School for children, called “Messy Church,” following the pattern set in the U.K., runs concurrent with the 10:00 service. All are welcome to come and see.
