RVNA Hosts Grand Opening of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center on December 2

On Friday, December 2nd, the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA) is celebrating the grand opening of their new Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, Rehab by RVNA, located on the lower level of RVNA’s Center for Exceptional Care at 27 Governor Street in Ridgefield.

Rehab by RVNA offers a complete suite of therapeutic and rehabilitation services on an out-patient basis, including physical therapy; occupational therapy; and speech, language and swallowing therapies; massage therapy and Reiki; as well as ongoing wellness programs.

“RVNA has been providing physical therapy and other rehabilitation services to our patients in their homes for over 40 years,” says Theresa Santoro, RVNA President and CEO.  “We are extremely proud to now offer these services, plus additional ones, to patients in such an appealing space, with a truly exceptional team of therapists. Rehab by RVNA responds to a need we have long recognized in our community and we are thrilled that our new building allows us to meet this need.”

Rehab by RVNA was originally launched in spring 2016, shortly after the opening of the Center for Exceptional Care. The Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center was located on the main floor of the new building, but quickly outgrew its allocated space. At that time, the only service being offered was physical therapy.

“Within a few weeks of Rehab by RVNA’s opening, we knew we had struck a chord,” explains Gigi Weiss, MSPT, Director of Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. “Appointments were booked solid, the staff was fully utilized and we hadn’t even started publicity — it was simply word of mouth. There was strong evidence that the interest was greater than we had expected, and we wanted to offer speech therapy, occupational therapy and other related services. There was no way we could expand our offerings and stay in the same space, with the overwhelming response the physical therapy received.”

So the architect and builder were called back into action and the decision was made to transform the unused space on the lower level of the building into a multi-service rehabilitation center.

The brand new 2,000 square foot facility includes an open gym with state-of-the art equipment, parallel bars and other advanced therapeutic equipment, as well as dedicated space for occupational, speech and massage therapies and three additional individual treatment rooms.  A locker room with shower is available to patients on the main floor, accessible by an elevator.  The new space was designed by Doyle Coffin Architecture and constructed by Roche Inc., the same team who delivered the Center for Exceptional Care.

“This is one of the few facilities in Fairfield County offering speech and occupational therapy to patients who are not home-bound,” explains Weiss.  “We are thrilled to be able to offer these important services to a wider population of people.”

On Friday, December 2, from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, RVNA invites community members and friends to join them at the Rehab by RVNA open house, featuring tours of the facility, equipment demonstrations, staff introductions and lunch-time refreshments.

“The new Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center is full of natural light, easy to access and thoroughly up to date,” says Weiss. “Whether you are currently in the market for physical therapy or not, it’s well worth a visit.”
