Guest Speaker at Republican Event is First Woman Republican Minority Leader of Connecticut General Assembly

The special guest speaker at this year’s Redding Republican Town Committee Fall Cocktail Party, to be held September 24th from 4-7PM at The Redding Country Club, may not be a household name, but perhaps should be.

Themis Klarides is a nine-term State Representative from Connecticut’s 114th District, representing Woodbridge, Orange and Derby, and was elected unanimously as House Republican Leader by members of the House Republican Caucus in 2014. She is also ranking Republican member of the House Legislative Committee.

Prior to being elected House Minority Leader, She served as Deputy Republican Leader from 2007-2014. She is an admired, outspoken leader on issues regarding the state’s financial situation, job creation, education and many others.

Professionally, Klarides’ is a practicing attorney and is currently of council to the Bridgeport-based law firm of Cohen & Wolf in the firm’s Orange office. Prior to embarking on her career in law and politics, she was a national fitness competitor and professional fitness model. She even worked as a WWE ring girl while attending law school.

Ms. Klarides is a highly involved community leader and active on many board and organizations. She is a member of the Birmingham Water Company Board of Directors, Corporator with the Birmingham Group and Griffin Health Services, on the Executive Board/Fundraising Committee of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and a member of the Fairfield County Safe Kids Advisory Board, Greater Valley Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors and is a member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation…to name just a few.  She has received numerous honors from these organizations for her dedication and leadership.

She is a graduate of Trinity College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and later graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law.

In addition to introducing the evening’s honorees, favorite son candidates Dan Carter, running for U.S. Senate and John Shaban, running for 4th U.S. Congressional District, Ms. Klarides will share her insightful observations on the state of our state.
