State Police Investigate Pursuit on Route 7

STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE AFTER PURSUIT ON I-84, ROUTE 7 

On  March 24, 2015, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a State Trooper assigned to Troop A- Southbury noticed a motor vehicle violation on a pickup truck traveling on Interstate 84 westbound near exit 6 in Danbury.

The Trooper attempted to stop the truck utilizing lights and sirens on his cruiser, but the truck operator failed to stop.  The operator continued on I-84 westbound and left the highway at exit 2.  The truck then re-entered onto I-84 eastbound, continuing to engage the Trooper in a pursuit.  The truck operator left the highway at exit 7, entering Route 7 northbound.  The truck operator continued northbound and eventually struck the rear of a box truck that was in slow-moving traffic in New Milford. 

The accused operator was extricated from the truck. The operator was found to have serious injuries and was transported to Danbury Hospital.

The driver of the box truck struck by the accused did not appear to be injured, but was transported to Danbury Hospital for evaluation. 

The State Police CARS Unit and Western District Major Crime Squad were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.  Charges for the accused are pending.

No civilians or first responders were injured during this incident.

This case remains under investigation.
