New Stories for a Changing World

A panel discussion at 7:00 PM

What does it mean to make art when the future feels fragile?

Jai Chakrabarti, acclaimed author of A Play for the End of the World, will be joined by James Dean Palmer and Jonathan Winn, director and author of Thrown Stone’s upcoming world premiere of Fools’ Paradise. Facilitated by poet and professor Laurel S. Peterson, we’ll talk about the role of theatre in democracy and conflict, how art builds community and connection, and why risk-taking is essential to moving culture forward.

And Then: The Biggest Announcement in our History

This isn’t just a milestone — it’s a leap. We’re sharing a moment that redefines what’s possible for a company like ours, and a community like this. You’ll hear it first, surrounded by the people who made it possible.

We Conclude with An Opportunity for You

This night is also your chance to be involved in a brave kind of theatre. One that questions, risks, and invigorates the public conversation. We’ll close by offering you a role in Thrown Stone’s Next Act. You — yes you — can be a driving force behind the creation of new work.

Because new theatre = risk

New theatre is what happens when brave people come into a room together to ask big questions. It feels vulnerable to take part in something without a known outcome. To lean into risk. Because all plays, in one way or another, are about change — and that means a new play can change the world, for good or ill.

As artists, as audience, as participants in the conversation, we can be the authors of that change.

If we’re willing to take the risk.
