Ridgefield Garden Tour Blooms Again Today After 30 Years

Today marked a vibrant return to tradition with the Ridgefield Garden Tour, co-chaired by Terry McManus and Stacey Schibli. Dubbed “a natural collaboration building community together,” this joint effort between the Ridgefield Garden Club and the Ridgefield Historical Society brought eight private gardens—plus Ballard Park’s public gems—to life.

Aptly named “Beyond the Garden Gate,” the tour marked a radiant return for horticulture lovers across town. Spanning the full stretch of Ridgefield—from the charming lanes of Upper Ridgebury to the scenic edge of South Branchville—the tour celebrated the very best of local green spaces

This was the community’s first local garden tour in more than three decades. Interest was immense: over 200 people on the waitlist, with 560 garden-loving attendees exploring lush landscapes and creative outdoor spaces

Guests hopped on shuttle buses and wandered through gardens ranging from sculpted parterres to cottage-style blooms. Members of the Garden Club offered horticultural insights, while Historical Society volunteers highlighted each site’s backstory .

“It was a day of magnificent gardens—something Ridgefield hasn't seen in 30 years,” said the co-chairs. Their partnership brought this long-dormant tradition to life, reaffirming the town’s commitment to beauty, history, and shared experiences.
