Ridgefield stands in solidarity with Glenny has she fights to beat Encephalitis

The Ridgefield community is uniting to support Glenny Montanari, a cherished Ridgefield Public Schools staff member and lifelong resident, who is currently battling viral encephalitis. According to the GoFundMe page organized by Ryan Carpe on behalf of Courtney Montanari, over $39,000 has been raised to assist with Glenny's medical and household expenses.

Described as "the definition of sunshine in person form," Glenny is known for her warm smile and dedication to her family, especially her four grandchildren. She has been a familiar face at Scott’s Ridge Middle School and Ridgefield High School, where her presence has touched many lives.

Her health crisis began on April 28 with leg weakness and cramps, initially suspected to be a mild stroke. However, her condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to a diagnosis of HSV-1-induced viral encephalitis. She has since faced multiple complications, including pneumonia, a collapsed lung, sepsis, and kidney failure, and remains in the ICU on a ventilator.

Glenny's daughters, Kelsey and Courtney, have been by her side, balancing their own families and work commitments while supporting their mother. The community's response has been overwhelming, with prayer groups forming across several states and daily updates shared among friends and colleagues.

"Glenny’s 'village' is overwhelming, and they have been cheering her on for recovery," the family shared on the GoFundMe page. "She is a huge believer in the Power of Prayer."

The family has set a fundraising goal of $100,000 to cover ongoing expenses. Any unused donations will be contributed to The Mary Ellen and Samuel Klein, MD Critical Care Unit at Danbury Hospital. Supporters can contribute through the GoFundMe page: Support Glenny's Fight Against Encephalitis.

As Glenny continues her fight, the community remains hopeful for her recovery, drawing strength from her resilience and the outpouring of support.
