Ridgefield Theater Barn offering two Improv Comedy workshops for adults

Do you love improv?  Have you already taken a level one class and are looking to advance? Is taking an improv class on your bucket list? Here is your chance! The Theater Barn is offering two levels of 6-week-long Workshops for Adults: Fundamentals of Improv Comedy Workshop and Exploring Longform Improv Workshop.

Fundamentals of Improv Comedy Workshop: Taught by Upright Citizens Brigade and PIT trained improviser Rick Hodder, this six-week workshop is designed to dig deep into the fundamentals of improv, helping you learn techniques to think quickly on your feet and generally be more creative and confident. Students will learn both long-form and short-form improv techniques. While the emphasis in teaching will be on having fun over achieving perfection, students can expect a class, not just games. This workshop will culminate in a Whose-Barn-Is-It-Anyway-style class show performed in the new Black Box Theater. Classes will be on Tuesdays, starting August 26th, from 7-8:30pm. The last class will be on September 30th, with the final performance time TBD..

Exploring Longform Improv Workshop: Taught by Upright Citizen’s Brigade-trained improviser and performer Matt Austin, this six-week workshop is an advanced Improv class for those who have previously taken Fundamentals of Improv or have equivalent training. In this class we will take a deeper dive into Improv and explore various Long Form Improv structures and techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform a class show on the RTB stage. Classes will take place on Thursdays starting August 28th from 7-8:30pm. The last class will be on September 30th and the performance will be on October 2nd at 7pm.
