Ridgefield’s Karen Connors Runs Boston Marathon, Earns Coveted Six Star Medal

Ridgefield resident Karen Connors achieved a monumental milestone on Monday, April 21, by completing the 129th Boston Marathon. This race marked the culmination of her journey to earn the prestigious Six Star Abbott World Marathon Majors medal, awarded to runners who finish all six major marathons: New York City, Chicago, Berlin, London, Tokyo, and Boston.

Karen's marathon journey began in 2014 with the New York City Marathon. Over the years, she tackled each major race, embracing the challenges and camaraderie that come with long-distance running. Her dedication and perseverance led her to the streets of Boston, where she completed her sixth major marathon, joining an elite group of global runners who have achieved this feat.

Beyond personal accomplishment, Karen's run held deep personal significance. She ran in support of the Last Call Foundation, an organization committed to advancing firefighter safety. This cause resonates deeply with Karen, whose father served as a Cleveland firefighter for 25 years. The mission became even more personal when her daughter survived a three-alarm fire in her New York City apartment in December 2024. Among the responders was Engine 13—the same number her father proudly served—creating a poignant full-circle moment for Karen and her family
