Poetry at the Ridgefield Library


In honor of National Poetry Month, two award-winning poets read at the Ridgefield Library on Thursday, April 5th at 7 pm.

B. K. Fischer is a poet, critic, editor, and teacher. Her book Mutiny Gallery won the 2011 T. S. Eliot Prize and was released by Truman State University Press in October 2011. Her poems have appeared in many journals including The Paris Review. She holds a B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars, an M.F.A. in poetry from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in English and American Literature from New York University, and has taught writing and literature at Columbia, NYU, and Marymount College. She lives in Sleepy Hollow, NY with her husband and three children.

Alison Woods - Winner of the New Women's Voice Award from Finishing Line Press in 2010, Alison Woods' collection of poems New Forest was selected for a Pushcart Prize in 2011. She is a poet and lyricist who has published poems in journals such as The Paris Review, The Kean Review, and The National Poetry Review. She received her MFA from Columbia University and has taught writing at Norwalk Community College, Montclair State University, Kean University, and Fashion Institute of Technology. She lives with her daughter and her boxer Juno in Ridgefield.
