Vertical Horizon will play alternative rock at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, June 21

Founded in the early 1990s, the alternative rock band Vertical Horizon experienced meteoric success when they released their album Everything You Want which sold upwards of two million copies.  The title song captured the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts, becoming the most played single of 2000. The band garnered even more radio attention with “You’re a God” (#4 on Billboard’s Adult Chart) and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning”. Vertical Horizon will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse to share their success on Thursday, June 21, at 8 p.m. Special guest is Brian Jarvis, an award-winning singer/songwriter from Manchester, CT whose heart-felt lyrics and talent earned him the Hartford Advocate’s award for “Best Solo Artist” in 2007. His first album release, Honestly, received impressive radio play. This concert is part of the Guinness Black Lager Rock Series with media sponsor 98Q - 98.3fm. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person) is available for this show and includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking. At Fifty Coins Restaurant (Main St., Ridgefield), diners will receive 10% off the dinner bill the night of this event when tickets are shown.

Today’s Vertical Horizon’s genres, styles and sounds are the band’s “tools of the trade”, but they’re used with such variety—such intricacy—that it’s a challenge to “classify” the band’s sound. It’s rock, but nuances make it hard to define. Current band members are Matt Scannell (vocalist, guitarist), Steve Fekete (guitarist), Ron LaVella (drummer) and Cedric LeMoyne (bassist). Their most recent studio album, Burning the Days, was released in late 2009 and is a true testament to their commitment to making brilliant music
