His Holiness the Dalai Lama will come to Western Connecticut State University in October 2012 for two public talks on Thursday, Oct. 18 (“The Art of Compassion”), and Friday, Oct. 19 (“Advice for Daily Life”). The talks will be in the Feldman Arena of the O’Neill Center on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury

Ticket prices will range from $20 to $200, based on proximity to the stage. To ensure a fair distribution of tickets, tickets will be sold by random draw. There will be no online ticket sales for this event. Ticket requests will be accepted beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25, at www.wcsu.edu/tickets. The form required to submit requests for the drawing will not be made available until then.
The Dalai Lama's visit to WCSU was planned in cooperation with Do Ngak Kunphen Ling (DNKL), Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace in Redding. DNKL is under the guidance of spiritual director Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa and the spiritual tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Center provides Tibetan Buddhist teachings to create a more peaceful world and to motivate individuals to provide greater service to all beings. DNKL offers classes both online and at the Center. The classes range from training in Buddhist moral discipline, meditative concentration and wisdom.

Tickets will be sold using the following format: A request for tickets must be submitted via the online form after 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25. Names will be drawn at random and posted on www.wcsu.edu/tickets. Once a name has been posted, tickets must be purchased by Sunday, July 15. When the guest contacts the WCSU Box Office within the allotted time period, Box Office staff will verify that the guest has received an invitation to purchase tickets. Upon verification, the guest will have the opportunity to purchase a maximum of two (2) tickets.
For guests who do not purchase tickets, the Dalai Lama's appearances will be simulcast to a remote location to be announced.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama does not charge a speaking engagement fee and no aspect of His Holiness' visit is being used to profit financially. Any funds raised through sponsorships and ticket sales will be used only to cover expenses for the events benefiting humanity. Should there be any surplus funds from His Holiness' events, that surplus will be disbursed to charitable organizations under the advisement of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
