Green expo, food, fun, and family-friendly Shakespeare on-the-green at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Collins Hannafin, P.C. and The Ridgefield Playhouse will present what has become an annual community event -- Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo -- on Saturday, August 10. The “how to live green” fair runs from 12 noon to 4 p.m. with Shakespeare’s “All’s Well That Ends Well” taking place under a tent for a seated audience at 2 p.m., all on the green at The Ridgefield Playhouse.   This “free to the community” extravaganza is a thank-you from the Playhouse to the greater community, which supports it throughout the year. More than 500 patrons spend fun family time experiencing a contemporary rendition of Shakespeare and learn about green living, which means making sustainable choices about what we eat, how we travel, what we buy, and how we use and dispose of it. The experts who will be participating in the Green Expo will explain how easy it can be to implement sustainability in our workplace practices, in how we run our homes and how we can make everyday choices that are not only good for us but also for the environment.

This year’s Shakespeare-on-the-Green and Green Expo is made possible through the generous support of business partners including event title sponsor Collins Hannafin, P.C. as well as underwriters First Niagara Bank, The Altria Group, The O’Connell Family, Pure Leaf, Scott Schneider and Patricia Minskoff Breede, and is generously supported by Ally Bally Bee, Books on the Common, Bruce Bennett Nissan, Ann & Steve Carlson, Cultec, Inc., The Care of Trees, EasyCare Energy Solutions, LLC, The Gym of Ridgefield & Southbury,  Pitney Bowes, Simpaug Farms, The Toy Chest and Trillium Architects with additional support from Country Brothers Emporium, Nature's Temptations, OLA Granola, The Bayou North Restaurant, The Ridgefield Playhouse Board of Directors, Venture Photography, Wellness Resource Showing Shaklee, Whistle Stop Bakery, Yogapata of Wilton and Yoga Shala.

Theatricality reigns as a troupe of eight traveling players present Shakespeare’s fable of the spunky, lovesick Helena and her pursuit of the fickle Bertram, a callow young man who prefers war and womanizing to romance and responsibility. Expect comedy, music, adventure, and rapid-fire onstage character changes in this delightful tale of a young woman triumphing over adversities. “All’s Well That Ends Well” is directed by Russell Treyz.

Tickets are free but must be reserved by calling the box office at 203-438-5795, with a limit of 5 tickets per family on a first come first served basis. Tickets will be held at the box office until 1 p.m. on August 10. For more information, visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
