Ridgefield cyclists, runners and multi-sport athletes are joining together in the name of camaraderie, competition and fun.

The Kick-Off membership meeting of Ridgefield Bicycle Sport Club will take place on Wednesday, January 18th at 7 p.m. at the Ridgefield Boys and Girls Club, 41 Governor Street.  All are welcome to learn, meet fellow sports enthusiasts and join the newly formed club.

Ridgefield Bicycle Sport Club will actively promote cycling and other sports through group rides, runs and swims, training sessions, races, clinics and events.  All levels of athletes and interested parties are encouraged to participate, from elite racers to recreational enthusiasts.  The club hopes to encourage newcomers and support those who are devotees.

“This club already has great energy.  We have a wonderful group of organizers and sponsors who are very interested in supporting the community of athletes as a whole, making Ridgefield an even better place to challenge yourself or simply get out and ride your bike,” says club President Jacqui Dowd.  “This club will provide a platform for people to connect to others in the sports they love or have support in trying something new.”

The club’s mission is to create a community of local cyclists through fun, competition, advocacy, road safety and etiquette, education and the pure enjoyment of cycling and multi-sport.

Membership is $40 and includes access to all club training rides, recreational rides, activities and social events, member directory, club clothing at club pricing, discounts, access to local rides and more.

Club sponsors include Ridgefield Physical Therapy, Elevation Spinning, Neumann Real Estate, Doyle Coffin Architecture at the Platinum level and SusiLaura Massage, The Cake Box, TriRidgefield, Allison Stockel and The Ridgefield Playhouse, Georgetown AutoBody, T.Edward Wines and Ridgefield Magazine at the Silver level.
