Branchville Elementary School Artists Contribute to Exhibit at the Katonah Museum of Art

Branchville Elementary School (BES) first and second graders can add artists to their resumes, thanks to the Younger Artists: New York Stories exhibit in the Learning Center of the  Katonah Museum of Art running now through Sunday, February 19th!

First and second graders at BES created contributions to large format books now on display as part of the exhibit.

The first graders designed and painted their own people in the style of Mo Willems, the popular author of the Knuffle Bunny series and other children's books. These creations were then placed in photographs of Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station, and other popular sights around New York City, and photographed for a large format book, just like one by Mo Willems.

The second graders studied the style of children's books author and illustrator Donald Crews. They created New York City buildings and taxis, and worked together to design and layer these objects to create the effect of a city scene, while learning the impact of viewing a scene from different vantage points. Their work has also been photographed for a large format book, just like books by Donald Crews.

Opening Night is TONIGHT from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Museum.
