Ridgefield High senior football player John Turner, son of Kate and John Turner, signed a letter of intent to attend Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass and to play football for the college. "He feels great about going to Holy Cross and looks forward to the challenge of playing in the Patriot League," said his mother, Kate.
Turner, who started on defense at the linebacker position for three years and on offense at the fullback position for two years, was RHS football team captain for the 2010-2011 season and named All FCIAC, first team. He ran 682 yards on 100 carries last fall and caught 16 passes for 112 yards. The 5'11", 205 lb senior scored 9 touchdowns; on defense, he had 63 tackles including 45 solo stops.
