The Sunrise Rotary Club holds monthly food drives

Food Drive with New Members

The Sunrise Rotary Club has been very active in supporting the community through monthly food drives.

The most recent took place on Oct. 5 where the members collected in excess of $11,000 of food contributions and $1,064 in cash donations. Tony Phillips, LCSW, Director of Social Services, stated that the need is expected to be higher with the holidays on the horizon. The contributions were delivered in three separate truckloads and the check was presented at the recent club meeting. John Metzger, club president, said, "This really demonstrates how much our club can contribute to the community as we continue to grow with new members. Thank you to our community and to the members who helped with the food drives." Donations to the food pantry provides emergency and temporary assistance to individuals and families seeking help with non-perishable food and personal items. The next food drive is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at Stop & Shop, 125 Danbury Road, from 9 AM-4 PM.
