The Women's Center of Greater Danbury will be celebrating 39 years of serving families and the community at our 12th annual Gala on Friday, April 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Amber Room in Danbury. Well-known Bridgewater community activist and philanthropist, Virginia Young, will be honored for her exceptional creativity and generosity in constant support of the Women's Center; she has served on the Women's Center Advisory Council for many, many years.
Mrs. Young stated, "What a privilege to be working with such dedicated, efficient, and selfless people. The Women's Center is a model of excellence that celebrates true neighbor-loving at its silent core."
The Women's Center provides free & confidential services that prevent or lessen the trauma associated with domestic violence, sexual assault and other major life transitions. Last year, the Center served more than 26,000 women, men and children in 13 area towns. All event proceeds will help to fund these FREE counseling, residential, prevention, and educational programs and services.
The 12th annual Gala will feature carnival games, comedienne Christine O'Leary, open bar, music, dinner, and silent and live auctions.
Thus far the Gala has many generous community supporters. From the Ridgefield Playhouse, A Girls' Night Out including modeling in a fashion show, a weekend at a Vermont Farm, Hirschfeld's Casablanca from George J. Goodstadt, a Newport, RI getaway, golf and more!
