Ridgefield Rotary Club Seeks Nominees for Regional $10,000 Scholarship

College and graduate students residing in Ridgefield can apply for the regional "Service Above Self" Scholarship for 2014-2015. The winner will be selected in a competitive process in Rotary District No. 7980, which includes Ridgefield.

Candidates must demonstrate that they have or will live up to Rotary ideals to serve the community, and they must be sponsored by the Ridgefield Rotary Club.

Rainer Gonet, club treasurer and vice president-elect, said candidates should have great academic achievements balanced with community service activities and goals.

The club hopes to identify a Ridgefield undergraduate or graduate student pursuing studies in one of Rotary's international areas of focus: peace and conflict; disease prevention and treatment; water and sanitation; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and economic and community development.

Applications can be requested from the club at rotaryclubofridgefield@gmail.com. They are due Friday, April 25, and selected candidates will be interviewed by club members, Rainer Gonet and Kristina Kelly.

Since 1941, the Ridgefield Rotary Club has been committed to service above self. For more information about the Club's community service projects and its events, visit the website at http://www.ridgefieldrotary.org.
