Spin at JoyRide on Friday, September 5, to help The Ridgefield Playhouse's Arts for Everyone

Shouldn't the arts be for everyone?

On Friday, September 5, for a minimum donation of $50 to ride a 50-minute indoor cycling class featuring DJ Yosif who will mix music of artists featured at The Ridgefield Playhouse both past and present, spinners will be making a contribution that goes directly to the Arts for Everyone and Arts in Education programs at The Ridgefield Playhouse, a not-for-profit performing arts center. These programs allow low-income children and families in surrounding towns of Bridgeport, Stamford and Danbury to have the exposure to the arts that they otherwise would not have. All riders are invited to stick around for a post-spin party of complimentary nibbles and drinks supplied by No. 109 Cheese & Wine.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make the performing arts accessible to everyone. Their Arts for Everyone outreach program helps low-income children and families in surrounding towns receive free show tickets. The Playhouse also provides complimentary tickets to other non-profits whose families experience the arts without having to pay. "Last year we were able to offer free tickets to many schools in low-income areas so that they could come to our Arts in Education shows, and we were able to bus them here as well," said Allison Stockel, Executive Director of the Ridgefield Playhouse. "Everyone should have the opportunity to be exposed to and benefit from the arts. It's not only important from the aspect of keeping live performance in a society that is deluged with recorded, multi-media experiences, but also from a social aspect about what it means for kids to attend a stage show and open their minds."

"We are delighted to donate our studio to raise funds for this cause," said Amy Pal, co-owner of JoyRide Ridgefield. "Our goal is to be able to provide a fun, interactive alternative to raise money. Our DJ Rides in particular are fun as well as out of the ordinary. We are honored that The Ridgefield Playhouse is riding at JoyRide Ridgefield for this special evening."

Fall headliners at The Ridgefield Playhouse include well known artists such as Colbie Caillat, Chis Isaak, Jeff Bridges, Willie Nelson, Pink Martini and Macy Gray, Whoopi Goldberg, to name a few. In addition to great musical acts, the Playhouse also hosts comedy, dance, children's theater and non-music celebs such as David Sedaris, Mo Rocca and others.
