New Canaan 5th Grader Holds Charity Event in Aid of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary

Local 10-year-old resident Reagan Bajus hopes to raise significant funds to help build the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, a project of The Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation in Newtown, Connecticut. The foundation, founded by the parents of Catherine Hubbard shortly after the first-grader was lost to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, is working towards building a world-class animal sanctuary through which Catherine's huge love for all living creatures may live on.

Plans for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary include building indoor and outdoor facilities that will provide care for dogs, cats, farm animals and native wildlife. Recently, the Governor of Connecticut signed a bill that transferred 34 acres of state land to the foundation to be utilized for the building of sanctuary.

"Once Reagan read about the foundation she was determined to help to support it, not only due to her lifelong love of animals and their welfare, but, even more importantly, the fact that she knew she could be helping another girl's family help her dream to live on," said Emily Bajus, Reagan's mother.

Reagan came up with an idea to hostwhat she thinks is the first ever Mega Mondo Drive/Bike/Walk/Jog/Run-Through Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale with all the proceeds going to help build the animal sanctuary. She's rallied her family and friends together to make a truly exceptional experience for a wonderful cause.

The event will take place September 1, 2014 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at 508 Ponus Ridge (near the intersection of Ponus Ridge Road and Frogtown Road) in New Canaan.
