Cellar XV is celebrating 12 years with a fundraiser

It’s that time of year again! Cellar XV is marking their 12th anniversary by hosting another incredible wine tasting- this time in support of the combat veteran’s program ‘Warrior Hike’. “It’s our way of saying thank you to the community for supporting us!”, says owner Doug Thompson. “And this year we are honored to support our veterans. We know we prepare our soldiers for war, and now we’d like to help combat veterans decompress from that effort and come to terms with their wartime experiences upon their return. Our non-profit recipient ‘Warrior Hike- Walk Off the War’ does just that!”

Cellar XV's 12th Anniversary 'Cheers to Charity for Warrior Hike’ will be held Saturday, September 27th from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. under the big white tents in front of their store at 86/88 Danbury Road, Ridgefield!

There will be 50+ wines! Entertainment by the Angry O’Haras!   Nibbles and noshes by Bernard’s Restaurant, and Dimitri’s. Plus, commemorative glasses will be given to the first 150 ticket holders!

Tickets are $40 per person at the door, or $35 in advance.- vintage of 21 years or older, please! ALL ticket profits will be donated to Warrior Hike to support their work helping our combat servicemen and women transition from war arenas to civilian life!!! Mark your calendar!  Spread the word!  Call your friends and meet them there!  You're sure to have a fabulous time while raising much needed funds for our servicemen and women who have done so much for us. Let’s help them have what so many of them need upon their return home through Warrior Hike- where more than 95% of your donations actually go to the combat veterans!

As Warrior Hike founder Retired Marine Captain Sean Gobin explains, “Historically, military units would experience a lengthy journey home after fighting a campaign abroad. During this journey home, warriors would process and come to terms with their wartime experiences. But in today’s age of modern transportation military personnel can find themselves home within a few days of serving in a combat zone.”

“Since 2001, over 2.5 million veterans have returned home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but many of them have never transitioned from their experiences. This is evident by the recent report from the Department of Veteran Affairs which states that over 20% of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.”

In 2012, after returning home from three combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, Warrior Hike founder Sean Gobin hiked all 2,185 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Recognizing the therapeutic effects of long distance hiking, Sean created the ‘Warrior Hike-Walk Off The War’ Program which is designed to support veterans transitioning from their military service by thru-hiking America’s National Scenic Trails.

Don't miss this one!  Rain or shine!  The wines, entertainment and food will be waiting and so will the incredible non-profit, Warrior Hike! For more information about Warrior Hike, check out https://www.facebook.com/warriorhike or http://warriorhike.org .
