Ridgefield High School Football Players & Their Moms Participate in Safe Walk

Hundreds of people are expected to participate in the Women’s Center Annual Safe Walk which will take place this Sunday, October 5, inside the Danbury Fair Mall.

For the first time ever, Ridgefield High School Football team members, together with their mothers, will walk in solidarity in support of the Women’s Center mission to end domestic violence.

It was Fairfield County Bank Vice President Kathy Graham who initially had the idea. “Fairfield County Bank has had a team for several years called Strength in Numbers and I thought it would make a powerful statement to have the RHS football players join our team,” explained Graham.

In light of the recent media coverage surrounding the NFL and domestic violence, Graham, a member of the Women’s Center Advisory Council, contacted RHS Football coach Kevin Callahan. Not only did Callahan embrace the idea, but he made it mandatory for each player to participate.

The players will wear their orange jerseys and their moms will be dressed in their sons matching white jerseys.
