Ridgefielder hosts "Mile for A Smile"

On Sunday October 26th, Ridgefield resident Steven Christofor is hosting "Mile For A Smile" an awareness/fundraising walk for SmileTrain.

The walk will start at 11am in front of The Toy Chest located at 441 Main Street in downtown Ridgefield and will go to The Cass Gilbert Fountain and return to Planet Pizza located at 411 Main Street. Planet Pizza will serve pizza to all those that have walked. (The walk will go on rain or shine.)

SmileTrain is an organization that provides free surgery for children around the world affected by cleft. Children born with cleft cannot eat or speak properly, aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job and face very difficult lives of shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Some children are even abandoned—all because of the way they look. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are too poor to afford the simple repair surgery that takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as $250 dollars.

Steven’s goal is to raise $1,250 which will help 5 children born with cleft.

Donations will be accepted, but are not required to walk. Anyone wishing to donate please click here.

Flyers were donated by The UPS Store in Ridgefield and Squash's Office Supply. An additional generous donation was made by Glass Guys Of Ridgefield.
