The Ridgefield Playhouse receives DECD grant

The Ridgefield Playhouse is pleased to announce that it has received a matching grant in the amount of $21,284 from the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), Office of the Arts, Arts Catalyze Placemaking-Supporting Arts in Place, a state agency. This grant was awarded through the Arts Catalyze Placemaking-Supporting Arts in Place Program, and it will be used to sustain core activities of the Playhouse for the fiscal year 2015.

State grants are awarded through a competitive process. This grant signifies that The Ridgefield Playhouse provides a high level of quality in its programs, community service and administrative ability.

The grant from the DECD will help fund Playhouse programs, including the Outreach Program which enables the Playhouse to offer free tickets to thousands of individuals each year as well as to schools and other non-profit organizations and for general operating expenses ensuring programming that represents a variety of performing arts experiences -- from music and comedy to dance, opera, theater and movies. This financial assistance is of paramount importance to the Playhouse’s work in the community.

“Providing individuals, both young and old, with the opportunity to enjoy the arts is priceless,” said Allison Stockel, Executive Director of The Ridgefield Playhouse. “We are deeply grateful for the support and assistance from the Department of Economic and Community Development.”

The DECD grant acknowledges the value of arts and culture provided by The Ridgefield Playhouse, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit performing arts center whose mission is to serve the Ridgefield community and neighboring environs by fostering an appreciation for the arts through enrichment and entertainment programs including movies, musical performances, theater and other performing art forms at a price and with a content accessible to a broad cross-section of the public. The Ridgefield Playhouse is located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street in Ridgefield, CT.
