Play for Purpose puck drop is Thursday evening

On Thursday, May 7, to Satuday, May 9, hockey fans, especially New York Rangers fans, should head to the Winter Garden Ice Arena in Ridgefield for Play for Purpose, a 72-hour continuous, fundraising hockey game. Last year, over $40,000 was raised and donated equally among the designated charities.  This year, the charities receiving funds will be Ridgefield's-own Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital (Westchester), Fisher House of Connecticut and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. On Saturday, May 8, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., the NY Rangers Sled Hockey Team will be taking-on the NJ Freeze. Not often seen in Fairfield County, this sled hockey game will be fast-paced, fun to watch, and proves that hockey is a sport for everyone to enjoy. After the game, hockey fans are welcomed on the ice for the NY Rangers Alumni Open Skate Meet & Greet. Some participating alums include Dave Maloney, Ron Greschner and Tom Laidlaw. The NY Rangers Road Tour Trunk will also be in the Winter Garden parking lot for guests.  To see all the special events and fun, please click here.

Many local businesses are also donating and participating in this event including Gallo Restaurant and The Natural Scoop.  If your business is interested in participating, please contact ken@playforpurpose.org.
