"Mile For A Smile" Fundraising & Awareness Walk For Smile Train in Ridgefield on October 25

2nd Annual "Mile For A Smile" Fundraising & Awareness Walk For Smile Train

On Sunday October 25, Ridgefield resident Steven Christofor and his daughter Isabel will be hosting their 2nd annual "Mile For A Smile" fundraising and awareness walk.

Last year their "Mile For A Smile" event was a great success. In addition to having over 30 people walk, Steven and Isabel surpassed their fundraising goal of $1,250 and raised $1,985.

Their goal this year is to once again raise $1,250 which will help 5 people with cleft.

The walk will start at 11am in front of The Toy Chest located at 441 Main Street in downtown Ridgefield and will go to The Cass Gilbert Fountain and return to Planet Pizza located at 411 Main Street. Planet Pizza will serve pizza to all those that have walked. (The walk will go on rain or shine.)

Donations will be accepted, but are not required to walk. Anyone wishing to donate please go to: http://support.smiletrain.org/goto/MileForASmile or bring a check made to Smile Train.

Children born with cleft cannot eat or speak properly, aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job and face very difficult lives of shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Some children are even abandoned—all because of the way they look. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are too poor to afford the simple repair surgery that takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as $250 dollars.
