Get Breakfast to Go Before the Parade & Support Youth Misson Trip to Belize

Jesse Lee Church’s Youth will be hosting their first “Breakfast-To-Go” before the Memorial Day parade on May 30th. The “Breakfast-To-Go” will include an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with your choice of bacon or sausage and a beverage for $8.00. Parade-goers will be able to stop by the corner of Main and King Lane to pick up their quick and delicious breakfast before making their way to their vantage points. The money raised by the high schoolers will be added to the group’s Belize mission trip fund. The youth hope to close in on their goal of $30,000 before their trip to Belize in August.

The group of 16 youth and their leaders will be traveling to Belize to help impoverished children. With a poverty rate of 43%, little funding is provided to the school systems. Belizean children, as young as elementary school, must pay for their own education in an overcrowded learning environment. Currently having more than half of the population in Belize under the age of 18, uneducated young adults struggle hoping for a brighter future. Inadequate space and a lack of funding contributes to 60% of high school students dropping out of school. Jesse Lee’s team will be working with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission in their ongoing efforts in reconstructing and refurbishing classrooms for these young children.
