ROAR chapter of Pets for Vets to provide PTSD service dog to a local Veteran

Greenwich, Stamford, Ridgefield groups unite for PTSD Awareness Month

On Saturday, June 25 at 6 pm, the Stamford Elks Lodge 899 will present its Elks Gratitude Grant to Greenwich-based Stand For The Troops Foundation (SFTT).

The Foundation will pay it forward through SFTT’s PTSD Rescue Coalition, to provide a Roar-Pets for Vets PTSD service dog to a local Veteran who ‘survived’ the rigors of war only to lose his or her way back home due to the invisible wounds of Post Traumatic Stress and/or Traumatic Brain Injury. The event is free and open to the public at Elks Lodge 899, 943 Hope Street, Stamford, CT 06907

Joining SFTT at the Elks Lodge will be Trinity, a service dog, and his new Veteran buddy, George, a Stamford resident who served in the Marine Corps in Iraq. George and Trinity were paired by the new Ridgefield chapter of Pets for Vets.

Linking up with an organization like Pets for Vets is an example of the work that SFTT does year-round to fulfill its mission of safeguarding the physical, mental and emotional well-being of America’s serving troops and returning Veterans.

There is no one magic cure or treatment for TBI or its frequent companion PTSD and we can’t afford to keep losing an average of 22 veterans each day to PTSD and TBI related suicide.

For the 411 on SFTT and June 25th program, or to learn more about the work being done by SFTT and its partners to support our veterans with more than lip service, call 203-629-0288 or visit www.sftt.org .
