SCOR Announces Justin Cowen Memorial Tournament this Saturday

Justin Cowen Memorial Tournament and Fundraiser on Saturday, October 22nd , Veteran’s Park (Governor’s Street) from 11:00AM-1:00PM

Come join the 7th/8th grade Boys Rec Plus division to celebrate the life of Justin Cowen, a 13 year old Ridgefield resident and member of the SCOR family who lost his battle in August to osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. A round-robin tournament involving all three SCOR 7/8th grade boys teams, as well as Wilton’s 7/8th grade boys team, will be played on two 11v11 fields, across from the Boys and Girls Club.

Along with the great soccer matches , we will be collecting voluntary donations to the Justin’s Smile Osteosarcoma Fund currently teaming up with Zach Sobiech at the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. (Details on the fund can be found below.) The Cowen family has selected this organization and charity to honor Justin’s legacy and to support research to prevent and cure Osteosarcoma.

Donation boxes will be set up on the day of the tournament on Veteran’s Park fields. Please pick up handouts describing the mission of the Children’s Cancer Research Fund and consider making a donation. A link to make online donations can be found here.

All are welcome to attend, so please get the word out for a very special day. The Cowen family will be making a brief introduction prior to the start of the games and hot dogs and baked goods will be available for sale throughout the event at Veteran’s Park .
