Jesse Lee Youth Make Locals Smile with Random Act of Raking

Rake and Run in Ridgefield

There was a bit of social media buzz over the weekend regarding some local random acts of (raking) kindness. That’s right, kids were “caught” rakes in hand, clearing lawns of fallen leaves. They weren’t hired, they weren’t paid – they were, well, being kind.

These philanthropic youths (between 25 and 30 of them) are part of Jesse Lee Church, and under the guidance of Youth Pastor, Neal Bowes, one Saturday each fall they engage in “Rake and Run”.

According to Dave Sigworth, whose son is part of the group, the mission is to drive around town, find yards filled with leaves, and rake the lawn without the homeowner noticing them!

“This is all part of the Methodist charge of doing good works,” says Sigworth
