Support RHS Students & Turning Pages on December 12 at 850 Degrees

Editor's note: The fundrasier for Turning Pages at 850 Degrees is part of an educational movement inspired by two RHS students who recognize the power and importance of the written word. We will be sharing more about the Turning Pages mission here on HamletHub. Stay tuned!

The community is invited to dine in or take out at 850 Wood Fired Restaurant (424 R Main Street) on December 12 from 4-10pm in support of Turning Pages, an organization founded by Ridgefield High School student Meredith Karle and her cousin, Madeline Fouts with the mission of promoting education, wellness and a love of reading.

"This year we're sponsoring the education of Yainkain from Sierra Leone and Kavi from Nepal and we need your help! Grab some pizza to support their education and break the cycle of poverty," says Karle.

This RHS Club has twenty active members and has earned the Ridgefield High School Service Award and has been recognized by the Congressional Gold Medal Award.

"We expanded our impact globally last year and partnered with Plan International to sponsor the education and wellness of three children, Yainkain in Sierra Leone, Kavi in Nepal and Yavi in India," explains Karle.

To date, Turning Pages has redistributed over 20,000 books to community centers, libraries and hospitals in need.

Turning Pages doesn't only help those in need around the globe, right here at home, the group shares their literary skills and passion with members of our community. "Turning Pages started the Reading to Ridgefield program where once a month a group of high school students goes into elementary school classrooms and reads to the the kindergarten and first grade classes," says Karle.

Help this amazing group of young philanthropists by heading to 850 on December 12! And, thank you to Larry Debany, owner of 850 for his generosity and supporing the Turning Pages mission!
