Ridgefield Girls Softball raises 11K for Sunrise Cottage

Ridgefield Girls Softball (RGS) hosted its 9th Annual Sunrise Cottage Benefit Softball Tournament Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30. The tournament, which was held in Ridgefield, raised $11,000.00 for Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage.

The Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage is a group home for mentally and physically challenged adults. Funds that were raised from the tournament will go towards maintaining the current Sunrise Cottage facility and to purchase and renovate a second home.

The tournament consisted 28 teams from all over Connecticut within three age group divisions (10U, 12U and 14U). A total of 64 games were played on Friday evening and Saturday with the championships rounds played on Sunday.

Anthony DeStefano, President of RGS, feels strongly about this great event. “RGS is proud to be affiliated with this benefit for the seventh year in a row. It is a great opportunity for our girls to help out in our community.”
