Touchdowns for Tomorrow Teaches Ridgefield Youth Football Players the Importance of Giving Back

Touchdowns that mean more than points for your team

Ridgefield resident, Anne Tasch recently launched a program for the Ridgefield Youth Football League (3-5th grade) called Touchdowns for Tomorrow. “It Is a program where the teams can raise money for programs that need it within their community,” explains Tasch.

Touchdowns for Tomorrow is a win-win. Literally. Scoring touchdowns equals donations for local nonprofits. “Each team has chosen a local nonprofit to donate to and players will get pledges for the total amount of touchdowns scored by their team for the year,” says Tasch.

Pledges can come from relatives, friends, community members or neighbors who commit to a $5 donation for each touchdown the team scores.

Touchdown pledges earned by the third grader football players will be donated to RVNA. Fourth grade will donate to We Will Ride Therapeutic Riding. The Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield will be the recipient of pledge donations from the fifth grade football players.

Touchdowns for Tomorrow is teaching lessons that extend far beyond the football field. Perhaps the most beautiful part of this philanthropic initiative is that the football players will come face to face with the nonprofits they are scoring for.

“More important than the money is having a member from each of the three organizations come to a practice next week to speak to the team about exactly what they [the nonprofit] do for the community and how the donations will help,” says Tasch.

At the conclusion of the season, the young athletes will present a check to the nonprofit who has reaped the rewards of games well played. “They will present the checks at their end of the year party,” says Tasch.

If you are interested in supporting one of the three nonprofits by pledging $5 per touchdown, contact Anne Tasch via email anne6424@hotmail.com and let her know the name of the nonprofit.
