Ridgefield Library announces results of Love Your Library celebration

Ridgefield Library has announced the results of this year's Love Your Library celebration!

This year's events included our inaugural FORE! your library Challenge Cup Tournament, the performance of the winning plays written by Ridgefield students by the RHS Theatre Company at the Ridgefield Playhouse, an Open Mini-Golf event for children and families and LYL All Around Town Locationswhere we distributed Ridgefield Library giveaways and information and collected donations.

This year's LYL events raised almost $17,500 for the Ridgefield Library!  We are so grateful to all who supported our events and helped to raise awareness in the community about the Ridgefield Library and our need to raise funds each year to support our Annual Operating Fund. This fiscal year we are challenged with raising almost $450,000 and this is a good start toward our goal. With our 2017-2018 Annual Appeal right around the corner, we are hoping to carry on the spirit of our LYL celebration.

Our FORE! your library Challenge Cup Mini-Golf Tournament transformed the Library into an extraordinary mini-golf course.  Each hole was exceptionally decorated by individual sponsors of the event.  The course took the players all throughout the Library where they could see all that the Ridgefield Library has to offer the community.  We could not have asked for a more interesting and fun mini-golf course.  We hope that all of our hole sponsors will consider participating in the event again in the future. We are also grateful to all of our other sponsors and in-kind donors who helped to make the event a success.

As you may know, throughout the weekend, players voted on their favorite hole.  The winner of the "Best Decorated Hole Contest" was Buddy's Bedtime Battery!  Congratulations!

The RHS Theatre Group did a wonderful job with their staged readings of the winning plays written by Ridgefield Students at the Ridgefield Playhouse.  The winners were: Total Eclipse of the Heart by Aaron Cohen; The Question at Steak by Adrianna Davis; 30 Silver Pieces by Lane MurdockThe Pink Poster by Jillian Fisher and Brunch with the Devil by Nell Walton. We are grateful to Allison Stockel for making the Ridgefield Playhouse available to us, Sherry Cox Director of the RHS Theatre Group, the playwriting contest judges Kit Dougherty, Donna Amato, Emily Kilburn, Joanne Hudson and Jason Peck and all of the students who participated in this great event.  Look for recordings of the readings on the Ridgefield Library website soon.

Special thanks to all of our LYL locations who allowed us to have a presence at their place of business and to all of the volunteers and volunteer organizations who helped to make the day a success.
