Ridgefield remembers MLK Jr. at Ridgefield Playhouse

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration

The free community event will take place MLK day, Monday, January 16 beginning at 3 PM at the Ridgefield Playhouse.

For more than two decades, Ridgefielders have gathered on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, to celebrate and honor the courageous civil rights leader who would have been 88 years old this year. The event, which was started by Ridgefield resident Mark Robinson and First Selectman Rudy Marconi, has grown tremendously over the years.

There will special performances by Broadway's Daniel Levine and Bryan Perrl, the Ridgefield Chorale, Deborah Katchko-Gray, Kimberly Wilson, and students from Keys, a nonprofit organization that brings music education to underserved, inner-city children.

The Annual Spirit of Dr. King, Ridgefield Community Service Award, will be presented to Daniela Sikora of the Ridgefield Chorale. This year’s ceremony will also include a special posthumous award presented to the family of Tom Belote.
