Giant Pumpkins, Squash, and Gourds, Oh My!

Mark you calendars: Ridgefield's 2nd Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off is Sunday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Ballard Park, Ridgefield.

This fabulous fall event will bring together large pumpkin growers from around the region for a cash prize competition and bragging rights for the heaviest pumpkin, squash, longest gourd, and a new category, Youth Grower.

Indulge your playful side with this fanciful, fun, family-focused day of activities that will culminate with the giant pumpkins being brought-in by a forklift to be weighed for prizes. Last year's largest pumpkin weighed in at over 1,200 pounds! Now that's big!

Children can enjoy face painting, picture making, and outdoor games, all around the theme of pumpkins, plants, fresh food, harvesting, and agriculture. Families will be able to walk the farm stands and vendor booths, enjoy musical entertainment, as well as watch a professional pumpkin carving demonstration.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information contact the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce, info@ridgefieldchamber.org, or call 203-438-5992.
