At JoyRide, a premier cycling studio, spinners can pay it forward by participating in a charity ride to benefit The Ridgefield Playhouse Arts for Everyone and Arts in Education programs on Friday, September 5, at 6 p.m. For a minimum donation of $50, spinners will rejoice with a 50-minute indoor cycling class featuring DJ Yosif who will mix the music of the diverse artists who have graced the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse. All donations will directly benefit the Playhouse programs, which give low-income children and families in surrounding towns of Bridgeport, Stamford and Danbury a performing arts experience with free tickets to shows. The Playhouse will provide cool silent auction items including signed guitars! After the spin, No. 109 Cheese & Wine will put on a spread (food & drink) to make the evening even more fun.
The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center whose mission is to make the performing arts accessible to everyone. Their Arts for Everyone outreach program helps low-income children and families in surrounding towns receive free show tickets. The Playhouse also provides complimentary tickets to other non-profits whose families can experience the arts without having to pay.
“Everyone should have the opportunity to be exposed to and benefit from the arts,” said Allison Stockel, who has been Executive Director of The Ridgefield Playhouse for the past 10 years. “It’s not only important from the aspect of keeping live performance in a society that is deluged with recorded, multi-media experiences, but also from a social aspect about what it means for kids to attend a stage show and open their minds.”
Fall headliners at The Ridgefield Playhouse include high-profile artists such as Colbie Caillat, Chis Isaak, Jeff Bridges, Lewis Black, Willie Nelson, Boz Scaggs, Pink Martini, Whoopi Goldberg and Rufus Wainwright to name a few, plus Live in HD from the Met and London’s National Theatre Series and a whole host of quality children’s programming. In addition to great musical acts, the Playhouse also brings comedy, dance, children’s theater and non-music celebs such as David Sedaris and Mo Rocca to Ridgefield.
